The 1943 Rescue Of Denmark’s Jews: Danish Fishermen Ferry Survivors to Safe Shores

In anticipation of the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s Fall 2023 exhibit, “Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark,” learn about the extraordinary event that brought 7,000 Danish Jews to nearby neutral Sweden.

The exhibit’s curator, Therkel Straede, recently discussed new discoveries about the rescue at a presentation with the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Straede will lead Jewish Heritage Travel’s upcoming trip to Denmark and Sweden in August 2023.

The story is retold in Fred Small’s moving ballad, “Denmark 1943.” Listen here.
